Working Groups
The objective of the End-to-End Performance Initiative (E2Epi)
is to create a predictable and well-supported environment
in which Internet2 campus network users have routinely successful
experiences in their development and use of advanced Internet
applications by improving performance problem detection and
resolution throughout networking infrastructures.
To effect this, the E2Epi staff are working with several groups; at present, the E2Epi has two official Working Groups: the Bulk Transport Working Group and the perfSONAR Working Group.
The Bulk Transport Working Group is currently working on the development of a bulk transfer protocol that will facilitate high-speed, high-performance transmission; the hope is that this protocol will be effective in instances when TCP is not, such as for ultra-high-speed bulk file transfers and for real-time interactive applications, such as those used by the Visible Human Project and e-VLBI (radio astronomy).
The perfSONAR Working Group is collaborating with the GEANT2 JRA1 effort to create an interoperable, easily-expandable measurement infrastructure architecture with tools that could be deployed around the world to assist researchers in solving performance problems across long paths. At this time, the group has released the first version of the code.
For information about other groups and projects with which we are working, see the Collaborators page.
